The KH-25-4 R/V Hakuho-Maru cruise, organized by Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) and Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute (AORI) at the University of Tokyo, has just concluded its journey across the eastern and central North Pacific Ocean.

One of our lab members, Jelly, also embarked on this Japanese research vessel, carrying out oceanic observations alongside more than 30 researchers over the course of two months. The research vessel departed from Vancouver, passed through Honolulu and sailed south all the way to 10°S. During the cruise, he conducted a series of temperature-modulated dilution experiments on board. Molecular and microscopic samples were also collected along the 145°W transect. We are excited about the potential significant discoveries these samples will reveal!
We extend our sincere gratitude to JAMSTEC and AORI for organizing this remarkable expedition and to the crew members and fellow researchers on board for their tremendous support.
